Acne Cure: Is There Any Such Thing?
Ask anyone who’s ever had a breakout on the day of class pictures or a big date, or been teased about their acne by classmates, and they’ll tell you they’ve tried every product without success. Many people despair and think there’s no such thing as an acne cure. Well, there may not be any miracle products that will make your acne disappear, but there are some things you can do about it yourself.
Products, medications, and treatments that promise an acne cure are available, that range from acne creams and gels, to strong medications with many awful side effects, to expensive and scary facial peels with chemicals or lasers. Who can afford to try all of these methods when none of them are even guaranteed to work? There are some simple and natural things you can do yourself at home that may offer you the acne cure you’re looking for.
First of all, make sure you are eating a balanced diet. Your body has a lot of power to heal itself, but it needs proper nutrients to do that. Also, drink enough water – you may think that your acne will be better if your skin is dry instead of oily, but actually your skin needs moisture to get rid of that extra oil. Eight cups a day of water are recommended – cola, coffee and tea don’t count! A very simple acne cure that works for many people is changing their face-washing routine. You many be using a soap or face wash that makes your acne worse, or at least doesn’t help. If you’re using a store-bought wash, make sure it is for skin with acne. Or you can make your own, using herbs like chamomile tea. In any case, use warm (not hot) water to wash, and never scrub hard. Rinse thoroughly when you’re don, using cooler water, which will help to close your pores and keep dirt out. Pat dry very gently. You may need a moisturizer, but again make sure it is suitable for acne use.
In some cases acne is brought on by abnormal hormone levels or is a side effect of another illness or medication. While you may be able to improve your acne a little, if nothing seems to really work, don’t be afraid to ask your doctor to check to make sure your acne cure isn’t making the problem worse. If you really have another condition, medical help might be needed. However, in most cases it’s not that hard to find a natural, simple acne cure.
