Acne Skin Care

Acne is very common, and almost everyone has it at one time or another. It’s easy to make your acne worse if you don’t know anything about acne skin care, but if you follow a few simple tips, you can keep your acne from getting worse.

Proper Cleansing

One of the most important points in acne skin care is washing your face, or any other parts of your body that have acne. You should wash your face in the morning and at night, and also after any exertion or exercise. Sweating can cause your acne to get worse if you don’t wash properly. If you wear maek-up, always wash it off at the end of each day. Don’t scrub, but just rinse with water and then wipe with a good acne skin care cleanser, rinsing again at the end with cooler water. Pat dry very gently with a clean cloth. Using warm (not hot) water will help open the pores to get the dirt out, while cold water helps close them again to keep them clean.

Shaving

For men, acne skin care can be complicated by shaving, which can aggravate the acne. Make sure to always use clean sharp razors, and soften the facial hair with water before shaving, as well as using a shaving cream or gel that does not hurt your acne. Many aftershaves make acne worse as well, so be careful.

Hands Off!

Don’t touch your face during the day, and don’t pick or squeeze your pimples, which will not only make your acne worse but possibly lead to scars.

Cosmetics

Makeup can make your acne worse as well, unless it’s designed for acne skin care. There are many types of cosmetics available that are oil-free or even specially made to help improve acne. Always make sure to remove makeup at the end of the day.

Stay Out of the Sun

Sunlight can be very damaging to the skin, causing not only sunburn but premature aging and even skin cancer. When you’re already worrying about acne skin care, you don’t want to damage your skin further. Some acne skin care treatments like oral medicines can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight, and your doctor will tell you to stay out of the sun. If you must be outside in the middle of the day, wear a hat or use a sunscreen lotion with a high sun protection factor (SPF) but be sure to use one designed for acne skin care.
