Back Acne Treatment

Millions of people suffer from acne on the face and neck, especially teenagers. While it may not be as obvious, many people suffer from back acne as well. If you have acne on your back, you might feel like you’re the only one. That’s because most of the time, back acne is simply hidden from view by clothing. It only becomes a problem when you need to wear a swimsuit or other clothing that leaves your back mostly bare. You don’t need to be embarrassed, as it is a very common condition. But you also don’t need to live with it. There are lots of possible back acne treatment options that can help you be free of this problem forever.

In many cases it’s even easier than finding a solution for acne of the face. There are not a lot of products marketed specifically for back acne treatment, but most facial products are perfectly suitable. For one thing, the skin of your back is a lot tougher than your face is, so all acne creams and washes designed for the face are generally quite safe to use on the back. Even if you have sensitive skin, your back is probably not nearly as vulnerable.

As with facial acne, one of the most important steps before choosing a back acne treatment is to understand the cause. Clogged pores happen on your back just like on your face. In the case of back acne, sweat probably plays a larger role, and may be trapped by your clothing as well. Be sure to shower after any strenuous exercise, like sports. You may want to use an exfoliating body wash, as that will help to strip off old dead skin cells that can block the pores. The skin is always renewing itself but sometimes needs a little help along the way. You might also try drinking more water as part of your back acne treatment- eight cups of water a day is not only good for your overall health, but also helps your skin to keep itself healthy.

Acne is the same no matter where you have it. If your back acne is severe and chronic, see a dermatologist. You may find there is a prescription cream that will clear it right up, or your doctor may suggest taking an oral antibiotic or other medicine. In some cases back acne can be caused by other health conditions, like illnesses or food allergies, so be sure to tell your doctor if you think you should be tested. Your back acne treatment could be started with something as simple as a change in diet.
