Prevent Acne

Almost everyone has suffered from acne at one point or another in their lives. It’s not just a teenage problem, although teens do tend to have it more often because of hormones. But even adults get acne which can be very annoying. You’ve probably tried a lot of things to cure your acne, but did you know that you can prevent it? There are some simple changes you can make that may help you prevent acne in your life.

What You Eat Can Prevent Acne

You probably remember your mother telling you that chocolate was going to give you pimples, or that eating fast food would make your acne worse. Well, that’s not entirely true, but she did have a point. Your body needs proper nutrition, including all the vitamins and minerals required, in order to keep itself healthy. Your skin’s condition will often be the first sign when something’s not right, so it’s important to eat properly. But as long as you’re getting enough fruits and vegetables, not overdosing on fats and sugars, and generally following a balanced diet, the occasional candy car or fast-food meal is really not going to make you break out.

Water to Prevent Acne

Water has two great functions in preventing acne. The first is that you need to drink water. If all you drink is coffee, tea, or colas, your body has trouble using that water properly. Juice is better, but drinking plain clean water is what your body really needs. The way it helps to prevent acne is that your skin cells shed old dead cells naturally as part of their normal growth & renewal cycle. If the skin is not hydrated well enough, it’s hard for the dead cells to be cleared away. Water also helps with this function in a second way – washing your face. When trying to prevent acne, it’s important to wash your skin both morning and night. Use warm water and a gentle face wash, and be sure to rinse afterwards.

Exercise to Prevent Acne?

It sounds a bit odd, but getting vigorous exercise lets your skin sweat out the extra oils that can build up and clog pores. Always be sure to shower immediately afterward though, or you may make the problem worse. In addition, getting enough exercise is just good for your overall health. Your systems are not independent, but all interconnected, and what improves one problem often helps with another.
