Source: BMJ Area: News Isotretinoin has been shown to have behavioural effects in mice and effects on cerebral metabolism in humans; and there have been case reports and spontaneous adverse drug reaction reports of an association between isotretinoin and suicidal behaviour, though observational studies have had conflicting results. This Swedish retrospective cohort study assessed the risk of attempted suicide before, during, and after treatment with isotretinoin for severe acne.
